EAST POINT, GA, April 16, 2015 – Kuehne + Nagel and BVL International hosted a reception and open house for the BVL International “Supply Chain Day Event” at Kuehne + Nagel’s Atlanta Operations located in East Point, Georgia. The event was attended by logistics service providers, education/academic representatives and students, Georgia Port Authority, regional chambers of commerce, supply chain professionals and consultants from the private sector in the Southeastern United States.
Josip T. Tomasevic, BVL US Southeast Chapter Vice Chairperson and AGCO Vice President & CPO, Global Purchasing and Materials said, “The BVL is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting awareness of the importance of logistics and supply chain management in industry, science and the public sphere. The organization goes beyond simple networking to include systematically documenting logistics issues and to develop methods and processes to reduce or eliminate the impact of these issues. BVL plays a major role in Europe and the organization goals and methods will benefit us in the North America just as well. BVL helps to create the awareness and to develop students interest in the Logistics profession to ensure that the profession continues to increase the growing talent based required to support Logistics in a global market place.
The event was one of over 400 events held worldwide for “Supply Chain Day” which is a day of activities with the aim to broaden and sharpen the public awareness of growing importance of Logistics in our ever growing global market place. Numerous companies, organizations, and institutes open their doors, allowing the interested public a look behind the scenes.
The event was particularly noteworthy as Kuehne + Nagel celebrates 125 years in business as an integral part of the Logistics Community throughout much of their History. “This is a prime example of the role in business, community and education that is being promoted across the World by BVL International” says Greg Toornman, the AGCO Director of Global Materials Management Transformation and a BVL Southeast U.S chapter member. Event participants were equally impressed with the Kuehne + Nagel presentations which focused on the past, present and future of the Logistics Marketplace with one attendee adding that this was “informative and very educational; it is hard to realize the overall impact Logistics has without seeing it first hand at events like this”.
Kuehne + Nagel also showcased their new operation in East Point. This is a multi-Million investment that Kuehne + Nagel is making in Georgia. “For over 25 years, Atlanta has been Kuehne + Nagel’s regional headquarters for the southeast and we are extremely proud of our new operation,” said John Hextall, President and CEO, Kuehne + Nagel North America. “The purpose-built 236,000-square-foot office and logistics center is part of our commitment to provide top-class service and most advanced logistics solutions.
